Want to Play on the Bandshell?

Please see our latest schedule to find yourself an open date and time. If you wish to reserve the Panhandle Bandshell for a performance, you must agree to the following terms for its use:

OPEN HOURS

The Panhandle Bandshell is available to be reserved for acoustic (non-amplified) performances of all kinds through September 3, 2007.  Performances can take place only during park hours, from 10am – 8pm.

PERFORMANCE AMPLIFICATION

Sorry, no amplification is allowed.  Due to the bandshell’s proximity to neighbors, only acoustic performances are permitted.  You may try to get an amplification permit from the Recreation and Parks Department, but we’ve asked them not to award any such permits to bandshell performers.

DRUMS AND DRUM CIRCLES

Again, due to proximity to neighbors, please refrain from loud drumming or drum circles.  Quiet, low-key drumming is probably fine as part of your performance, but please be extraordinarily considerate of the neighbors, use your judgment, and err on the side of caution.

PERMIT FOR AUDIENCES OVER 25 PEOPLE

If you anticipate an audience of greater than 25 people you MUST apply for and obtain an event permit from the Recreation and Parks Department (RPD) before your performance.  You MUST have this permit with you during your performance.  If you have more than 25 people in your audience and no permit, you may get cited and fined by the Park Rangers and/or SFPD.

RESERVATIONS ARE NOT REQUIRED

People can perform on the stage without a reservation.  However, a reservation is recommended to guarantee your timeslot.

RESERVATION SCHEDULE POSTING

The reservation schedule will be posted on this website and at the bandshell itself.  So there should be no question about who has a reservation and who does not.  The printed schedule is the final arbiter of any disputes or questions about reservations.

RESEVATION CONFLICTS

Performers with reservations have precedence over those without a reservation.  It is within your right to politely ask “squatters” to vacate the stage for you.

POST-EVENT CLEANUP

We ask YOU, as respectful members of the community, to assume responsibility for leaving the bandshell as good or better than you found it.  Please leave no trace of your having been there!

RESPECT

This bandshell is an experiment.  If there are a lot of problems, and it fails, we could be forced to remove it, and nobody wants that.  We look to YOU to help us make it successful, and you’ll do so by being respectful of it, the park around it, and its neighbors.

I AGREE TO THESE TERMS, AND WANT TO PERFORM … HOW DO I PROCEED?

Send an email to reservation(at)panhandlebandshell(dot)com stating:

  1. your name
  2. your group name (if any)
  3. desired performance date(s)
  4. performance start and end time(s)
  5. performance genre (live music, theatre, spoken word, dance, puppet show, other)
  6. a short description of your performance(s)
  7. anticipated audience size
  8. your cell phone number

Your doing so will indicate that you have read, understood and agreed to these terms.  We will get back to you with an acceptance of your requested reservation, or let you know that your time is not available.

Thank you for your interest in the Panhandle Bandshell … we hope you enjoy it!
