Structural Skeleton Team
Job Description
This team is responsible for pre-fabricating 7 I-Beams and 4 arches out of 4”x4”x1/4” structural steel tubing. We have a 2-3 professional, certified structural welders working on the project to complete all necessary pre-fabrication, welding for our I-Beams and steel tubing on site. We are seeking additional certified structural welders, as well as experienced metalworkers to:
- Help move around and position the steel sections for the welders, sometimes using equipment to do so.
- Assist with cutting of metal with a band saw
- Assist with drilling of holes using a magnetic drill press
- Possibly other metalwork with other tools TBD
- Professional welders are welcome to come help with the welding process!!
Requirements:
- Follow the direct instruction of and work under the direct supervision of the Welding Manager
- Ability to lift heavy objects and follow directions
- Need work gloves, earplugs and eye protection
- Metalworking experience desired, but not required
- Professional welders welcome to join and help out!!

Outer Skin Team
Job Description:
Prepare 75 automobile hoods for attachment to the structural skeleton. This includes:
- Removing all wiring and tubing
- Hammering out any significant dents
- Cleaning away any insulating materials
- Prepping them to be painted
- Carrying them to the paint booth
- Painting the outside of the hoods red, and the insides silver, using a paint spray gun in a painting booth, while wearing a respirator
- Hanging or placing them aside to dry, organized by size and shape
- On site: attaching hoods to structural skeleton, while standing on scaffolds
Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects and get dirty
- Note: each hood can be carried by a single person, but will likely need to be carried by a two people once painted
- Work gloves, tyvec suit, earplugs and eye protection
Timeframe: April 21 – May 21
Internal Skin Team
Job Description:
Prepare and attach approximately 200 computer circuit boards to 1/4” plywood sheets. This includes:
- Sorting circuit boards according to color and size
- Storing unused circuit boards in a 55-gallon drum for return to scrap yard
- Cutting and preparing 1/4” plywood into sheets
- Using a screw gun to screw circuit boards to plywood sheets, leaving a 1” gap between the circuit boards
- Keeping a tally of linear feet measurements of finished plywood sheets
- Stacking finished plywood sheets for storage, and eventual moving to site
- On-site: attaching plywood sheets to underside of structural arches
Requirements:
- Ability to use a screw gun (power drill)
- Work gloves, earplugs, eye protection
Timeframe: April 21- May 7
Stage Team
Job Description:
The stage team will construct a 45’x20’x18” stage out of reclaimed lumber for the framing, and solid-core wooden doors for the stage floor. This team needs volunteers to:
- Remove nails and wood staples out of reclaimed lumber
- Sorting and stacking lumber for use on construction site
- Maintaining running inventory of lumber in stock
- Manage inventory of hardware in stock to build stage
- Managing intake and inventory of solid-core doors
- Back-filling and smoothing over any holes in the doors (material TBD)
- Prepare and paint doors with non-slip surfacing (paint or other, TBD)
- Cut doors to size according to plan
- On-site: frame and build stage
- On-site: add décor to front facade of stage
Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Ability to use hand tools
- Work gloves, earplugs, eye protection
- Painting experience desirable
- Experience with power tools (Skil saw, table saw, etc.) desirable

Back Wall Team
Job Description:
The back wall of the bandshell will be a semi-circle of approximately 3,000 12oz water bottles attached to each other, and threaded onto wire strung from a metal frame. We need folks to:
- Manage and keep a count of all the water bottles we obtain
- Attach bottles to each other (method TBD)
- Drill holes in bottles using a hot wood engraving tool
- String bottles onto wires (like stringing popcorn)
- Create metal framework for wires to hook into (?)
Requirements:
- Be able to play nicely with plastic bottles
- Earplugs

Warehouse Manager / Den Mother
Job Description:
We need a trustworthy, available person to act as Warehouse Manager / Den Mother, responsible for:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations in the warehouse
- Maintaining a safe, clean and resourced workplace
- Understand the teams and tasks listed above, and
- Assist volunteers with understanding and filling out safety manuals, directing them to their tasks, and answering questions that may arise (or knowing who to go to for answers)
Requirements:
- Availability
- Attention to detail
- Ability to think on your feet and get things done
